This is America at its best…!

A deep red state in the West

Long dependent on coal and oil

Now making strides to plough new soil.

They’re not pointing fingers for their trouble

They’re creating solutions, on the double.

College is wasted on youth, it’s said.

And funerals are wasted on the dead!

Have a big party before you die

Then you actually can say goodbye.

We may not know when our time will come

So always be ready to bang the drum!

Working from home can be a pleasure

And provides your colleagues with some treasure

Of usually harmless goofs and gaffes

That mostly just result in laughs.

But sorry to say it’s also true

They sometimes get a disturbing view!

It’s hard to know with all the hype

From annoying doomsayers, you know the type.

But these guys are working for a real solution

To address the problem of plastic pollution.

And the first step is to get both sides

To see it for themselves in the ocean tides.

These are the issues at the root of the problem
And with our attitudes today we’ll never solve them.
No one wants to learn from what’s being said
Now they tune out or get aggressive instead.
Debate in the same party can’t even start.
“Fall in line or get out” is not very smart.

What will the marketing team do next,

With snazzy imagery and vibrant text?

Here they want to make old beef new!

Which, I suppose, shouldn’t surprise you.

It’s the same story as starting off a virgin

End then ending up at the plastic surgeon…

So sorry to say but it must be said
The President’s leadership is morally dead.
You simply can’t pretend to have it both ways
Condemning hatred on some, but not all days.
On immigrants and guns and the mentally ill
There is a way – but he has no will.

From the Amazon to the Arctic every day

Children pursued creative forms of play,

For thousands of years, on their own,

It’s the way our societies all have grown.

And now in their “wisdom” what adults have done

Will make less capable people who have less fun.

It’s hard to see this and not to worry,

But what to do next is a little blurry.

Seems pretty clear it’s getting warmer,

But we don’t have a leader who’s a reformer.

Perhaps if we made Mar-a-Lago’s AC go out

We’d have a bit less climate warming doubt.

Now Moscow Mitch has said his piece,

“Stability” for now, but later they’ll fleece

All Americans of their standard of living

As the deficit will mean that each is giving

Even more than they give for national defense

To cover payments on our debt expense.
