Leap Year

It all used to happen in the same year

And frankly helped keep things a bit more clear.

Presidential elections would take place

And summer and winter Olympics would race.

Every four years, it made things so easy…

Leap Year gave structure, made it all breezy.

Chaos at the Counter

I’ve been renting cars for 35 years

And yet even today I’m filled with fears

When I have to decide what to include

Always worried that I’m gonna be screwed…

I don’t know what they are trying to pull!

So should I return it with the tank full…?

Sports News Drought

We have now entered that shoulder season

When sports reporters search for a reason

To get out of bed, the big news has passed

March Madness and baseball are in the forecast

Midseason hockey and hoops have nothing new…

So we learn about uniforms being see-through.

This Is How You Do It

When countries nearby you pose a real threat –

Not Canada or Mexico – what you get

Is a sense of urgency that’s for real

And citizens respond to the appeal

That those of all ages will be needed.

Here I fear that that call goes unheeded.

True Love

In many homes the compromise would be

That the family would go buy that RV!

So kudos to these guys for finding a way

To get to a place that’s beyond okay

Where motivations aren’t secretly cloaked

And everyone involved seems pretty stoked.

Harsh but True (and funny!)

The New York Post is simply money
When it comes to headlines that are funny…

Leaving aside whether they’re right or wrong

They bust out of the box, news in a song.

Alas, Nikki’s chances are awfully frail,

Playing to the hope Trump ends up in jail.

To Help Persuade…?

Okay, well what this news is telling me

Is that more guys will say sexuality

Is truly required to make ends meet!

Providing a home and good meals to eat…

I mean, you gotta be smart, sharp in the head

So baby let’s go, let’s hop into bed!

Mama Bear

1989, oh yes what a year…

When the Japanese were instilling fear

Into the corridors of US might

Because they were buzzing at a lofty height.

But oh how the mighty can take a fall!

It took 34 years to recover it all…

Lost

Legitimate complaints about Slow Joe

Can and should be on every TV show.

But to fawn over Russia and its state

And discount all the things that make us great

Isn’t the province of any hero

Just that of a selfish modern-day Nero.

The Secret…

Stay busy! Be active! And have good genes.

Exercise a lot and eat all your greens.

Have many passions and spend time outdoors

Don’t waste any air engaging with bores.

Enjoy your life with friends, family and home.

And needless to say you should write a poem…
