Flatten the curve

At first I thought it wouldn’t do much
To incessantly wash your hands and such…
Seemed like maybe the easiest plan
Was not to impose a big travel ban
But to get the virus in one swell shot.
Turns out slowing it down will help a lot.

A scheduling nuisance!

So the First Lady is promoting Be Best

And is out raising money for its treasury chest.

But alas she has canceled her LA event

Due to a ‘scheduling conflict’ she can’t prevent.

That’s one way to describe the unfolding scene…

But outside the White House we say ‘Covid-19.’

OCD Nightmare!

It’s hard enough when things are good

And you still always feel like you should

Constantly wash and disinfect your hands

And maybe pass on seeing some bands.

Imagine now how hard it must be!

(Though some are thinking, “Told ya so, see!”)

…safe than sorry

For years they have been the brunt of fun,

But now they’ve got their time in the sun.

Of course it never hurts to fill the void

And just because you’re paranoid

Doesn’t mean bad things won’t come.

So now which of us are kind of dumb…?

Numbers are hard

Just because she’s in charge of education

For pretty much every kid in the entire nation

Doesn’t mean we should expect her to know

Much more than is needed for a reality show.

But of course such issues won’t get her the axe…

When our leaders embrace alternative facts!

Uh… sort of close

Last night I had dinner with a great old friend

Who has the ability to make others bend

To most of his crazy impulses and will

Which is sort of annoying, but impressive still!

He gets big themes though can be detail-free,

Like when he agreed “these days need poetry.”

Damn the torpedos!

Who says these folks aren’t tough?

No matter what happens it won’t be enough

To stop the inevitable desire to see

People in clothes that neither you nor me

Could possibly wear with a straight face…

But kudos to fashion for not losing pace!

Now what?

I’m glad that centrists performed so well

Though too bad Mayor Mike pretty much fell.

The path from here is much more clear

But it’s essential the Dems hold this dear:

The nation will stagnate with more division

So they had better build a broad coalition.

The chutzpah…!

Say what you will about the Chief,

A brilliant leader or petty thief,

He won’t let anything in his way.

No matter what he may do or say

He’s always right in his own mind

And to those who are of his kind.

Miss ya, Pete!

I was thrilled when he joined the race

And man did he run at a fast pace!

Yes he can seem like a smarty-pants

But his calm intellect would only enhance

A thoughtful angle to the political show.

Indeed it’s a shame to see him go.
