Essentially random

It is indeed an interesting question,

And people seem open to suggestion.

What, exactly, makes a business essential?

Who decides on that important credential?

Surfing to some, and barbers to others

It really depends on your personal druthers.

Remote indeed

It didn’t take long for new normal to set

With the strange new habits it did beget.

Zoom used to be a kids’ television show

Now it’s the means by which we know

The real color of our colleagues’ hair

And how they dress when they just don’t care.

Really?

This really needs to be broken down…

For starters I’d say it’s the act of a clown.

At worst he reminds us how bad things are

And perhaps he’s mismanaged things so far.

At best for him he gets his base all excited

Using tax payer dollars! Who should be indicted?

Innovation never dies

Yes we’re dealing with a global pandemic

And solutions to stress must be systemic.

Everyone needs their tonics and balms,

Like chicken soup served by caring moms.

These cures must be ready at any hour

And even of course while taking a shower.

Here’s another idea

In full disclosure I suck at these tests

And think of them all as useless pests.

So perhaps now we can make things right.

Instead of pretending that they shine light

On assessing a person’s potential to soar

Let’s just end these relics of social war.

This too can change

So many things at this moment in time

Are so uncertain and change on a dime.

But taxes and death, it was always said

Are the unchanging constants that we dread.

So it is quite a thing that we see here…

Pushing back taxes, but not the other I fear.

And then there’s that

Of all the problems you could encounter

I can’t say the issue of whether to mount her

Had really appeared on any pandemic list.

But this quarantined wife longs to be kissed

By her husband’s brother, who’s in the house

And who she seems to prefer over her spouse.

Backyard Marathon

While I was out finding buckets of chicken

Other runners of the world did something frickin’

Unbelievable in its scope and commitment

Staging marathons using unusual equipment.

Around and around in their yards they went!

Such innovation and spirit is heaven sent.

Well, we found one…

I had the good fortune to go out for a run

Keeping distance from others was easily done.

But I still saw the trash folks have left behind

And what a treasure this one was to find…!

The therapeutic power of fried chicken is high

But I think we’ll need more than that to get by.

Please do this!

I’ve come face to face with our system

And the problems are too big to list ‘em.

Our government response is second rate

Compared to countries that didn’t wait

To save jobs and give the economy a chance.

This idea can work – it already has in France.
