Refreshing!

Out in Utah two candidates are vying

To be the new governor, without denying

The good people of that western state

Thoughtful discussion in the political debate.

They even made an ad with each other

Encouraging peace between one another.

This will be interesting

Certainly it seems that it will be a blessing

And will likely be funny to watch the stressing

Of certain candidates who are ill-suited

To have their blowhard voices muted.

Amazing the debates must resort to this,

Technology to thwart a childish hiss.

With a little luck

At times it feels like the whole nation is dangling

From the huge Trump Tower that’s been strangling

Decency and service and our national pledge

To strive for unity, not some partisan wedge.

Hopefully with voting we’ll turn out as lucky

Because four more years would be kinda sucky.

That’s for sure

But in their defense it must be said

That everyone who deals with him will dread

The moment they decided to turn their backs

On dignity and reason, which Donnie lacks,

And to embrace this clown’s blood and soil

While he does nothing but sell snake oil…

The audacity of centrism

Who would have thought it was audacious

To pursue life goals while being gracious?

Here’s an inspiring guy running for Senate

Who has always adopted an important tenet:

“Anything gained is positive movement.”

Don’t expect all, just some improvement.

It’s come to this

If you thought our politics we’re in the loo
It’s no surprise to hear “nanny nanny poo poo”…
Why would a senator think it’s smart
To be such a child at the start
Of an event to promote the free world’s leader?
God help us now, we really need Her.

And so it goes

Insider privilege and individual gain

Pour salt in the wounds and jack the pain

Experienced by all the people like us

Who Donnie continues to throw under the bus

While his friends in high places and their crew

Were given a different and realistic view.

Catholic guilt

Looks like some folks at Notre Dame

Think that it really would be a shame

To push through with this nomination

Given it’s an abomination.

So Judge Barrett has given us some relief –

She will not be swayed by Catholic belief!

Tacking to center

He has one of history’s most liberal platforms
But look a little deeper for the idea that forms
The way he will govern if he is elected
And it’s clear the center is what he’s selected.
He won’t pack the court and will reach over the aisle
And help make the country a little less vile.

Becomes, or has been?

An interesting headline, and an odd start

Since politics have been at the very heart

Of this tragic episode in our nation’s story,

A true low point for our pride and glory.

What happened here is a dumpster fire

And Donnie encouraged it to transpire.
