Even by the crazy standards of today

This guy took power in an unusual way.

Just a few days ago he was sitting in jail

And now is released without paying bail.

Of course it does come at a certain price…

These nice people will have him in a vice.

Okay, let me just stress that this IS fake news

But man it’s so funny I just had to use

It since Donnie’s so crazy all of the time

And changes his mind at the flip of a dime

And promotes nutty theories with utter gall,

So reading this doesn’t seem that strange at all.

Who could have known way back when

That these “scientists” weren’t just Zen

And were actually doing something productive!

Even though it seems so very destructive…

Well, the world sure does change on a dime

And the Christian right will let it pass this time.

Okay, Donnie in fact did not really say this

But it is the point he won’t let you miss.

The virus is just too difficult to hate

Being invisible and all, and so hard to bait.

It’s way better to fear things you see a lot,

And immigrants are so much easier to spot!

This makes the assumption that he really had

Covid-19 and that it just wasn’t so bad…

But as faithful readers of the Rhymes do know

I think the virus was actually a no show.

What I didn’t foresee as Donnie’s intention

Was to also claim divine intervention!

Donnie is putting a stake in the ground

And believes that this time around

His base will do what they always do

And support him blindly without a clue.

Hoping others may think, “Huh, that’s not rash –

If we re-elect Trump we’ll get some cash.”

I realize he’s a stable genius of course

But I have to wonder about the force

That made him think it was a good plan

To put in danger the very G-Man

Who in this time of danger and strife

Is charged with protecting his safety and life.

Pope Francis has not come right out and said it

But the Trump campaign must surely dread it…

Every item he mentions is a campaign issue

And it’s easy to see the connective tissue

To an argument that Donnie is morally bereft.

Dear God let’s see more of the Religious Left.

It’s hardly new for a President to claim

That all is well with his physical frame

Even when the facts are quite dire

And the pundits speak of brimstone and fire.

But maintaining the image that all is well

Is justified right up to the toll of the bell.

So here’s what I think is going on…

Of course he doesn’t have the China Plague.

But can skip debates without seeming vague.

Then claim to have beaten it, call it a hoax,

And say “The world falls apart without me, folks…”
