Back in college it often seemed to me

Summer jobs were described extravagantly.

Those jobs that were just waiting on tables

Morphed into big executive labels.

It was funny then, such fragile ego.

But now it seems a dangerous placebo.

Who is surprised by this zany outcome?

Trump won’t have back his soapbox to shout from.

Whoever bought shares and thought it would sell

Must be in for a shock that won’t sit well.

But I’m pretty glad the deal won’t be done

And watching the fight will be kinda fun.

Today I sailed across the Gulf of Maine
Aboard a great boat, it was not insane.
We saw some whales and had plenty of breeze
Setting our sails full and our minds at ease.
Another day before we make landfall
And no drop in the strength of the sea’s call.

So here’s a guy who has served our nation

In combat and congress, with duration.

Now he continues to do the right thing

And what does he get? A big Trump lashing.

The vile and vitriol sent his way

Should be heard by all who think Trump’s okay.

While I’m not so clear on how it all works

At least their system protects against jerks.

In the UK the blowhard has fallen

His very own ministers, they were all in.

All the bluster and bullying and lies

Finally made this mop-haired loon capsize.

This allegedly came from a meme bot

And, oh man, it resonated a lot.

Turns out that wisdom has many sources

“The mouth of a babe” we know of course is

One of those sources, but who would have guessed

That a meme bot gave us some of the best?!

“…And he was looking for a soul to steal.”

So goes a great song, with massive appeal.

And strangely apt in this treasonous lie

Which Trump and his crew so want you to buy.

It’s good Hizzoner will have to explain

Why he’s not just criminally insane.

More than two centuries in, let’s reflect…

Why do so many believe we are wrecked?

We have our flaws and mistakes have been made,

A work in progress, let’s not be dismayed.

We remain the greatest power on earth

Where dreams – and chances – are still given birth.

It remains among our hardest of things…

Abortion, the law, and all that it brings.

So it would seem to me a prudent move –

Assuming we want all life to improve –

For sex education to be funded

So that there’s awareness of what one did.

At some point it’s time to call it all out

With this dude on the plane there is no doubt

He’s got problems… issues… say what you will

No matter what we call it, it is still

A case of imbalance in the guy’s head.

“No Fly List” for him, he can walk instead.
