The notion of taxing capital gains

Before they are realized, well it just pains

Me to think about how dumb that would be

And its impact on the economy.

I don’t even know how it could be done –

Pricing assets is no walk in the sun.

When my thoughts become filled by gangs and crime

I can’t say that I spend a lot of time

Thinking about all those criminal plots

That involve exams and filling the dots

On standardized tests…! How could we have known

How much their criminal business has grown?

I’ve never understood how it could be

That some people are swayed by ads on TV.

So it really gave me a big surprise

When I learned marketing had a new guise…

Influencers will tell you what to buy!

Does it change things if they’re made by AI?

It hardly seems this could be a surprise

That Wall Street firms get their girls and their guys,

Who speculate and trade to make a buck,

To start playing poker – it’s not dumb luck!

I love that this firm is in the open

About things it takes for cash to rope in.

They say you can’t escape death and taxes

But if you’re Trump, then one of the facts is

Death might happen, but taxes don’t have to!

Not when there’s debt and the chance to pass through

Laws that would cut, well, all cords to real life…

He’s a bit of a dreaming lunatic’s midwife.

Trump certainly makes some weird things take place!

Like who could have imagined this odd case –

Dick Cheney’s daughter, the tough fighting Liz

As hard right as any pol in the biz

Not only rejected the GOP

But then endorsed Harris? Lord have mercy!

It was the late summer of ‘84

When I packed my bag and went out the door

Headed to college, very exciting!

Eager to take up reading and writing.

Back then it was different, I suppose –

I jumped on a bus. My parents? Who knows…

It seems that among the things which were lost

During the Lockdown which had such a cost

Were basic codes about how to behave

When you are at work… and not in your cave.

However unpleasant you find your job

Please don’t surrender to this uncouth mob.

We live in a country, best on the Earth.

Best in all history for what it’s worth.

Yet somehow some people want us to think

That things are just terrible, we’re on the brink

Of total disaster! But they’re faking…

I’m glad to see that fever is breaking.

They have long been thought of as our best friends

And too often they come to very sad ends.

So it’s nice to see these people come out

Taking a stand for our pals with a snout.

Dogs have your back and they make you driven

To be more kind and see care is given.
