Even amid all the chaos, anger and pain

Human kindness can still sometimes reign.

I wish we could focus on our connections,

Rather than strategies to win elections.

Politicians and the media are both to blame,

But a photo like this puts them all to shame.

People had complaints, some always would.

That America was in ruins, but he knew what to do.

With economic stress and people killed.

Add now another factor to consider

Which does little to help our feeling bitter.

While carbon output has reduced a lot

The use of plastic most certainly has not.

It’s hard to imagine the level of stress

But that is not any kind of endorsement

To give a pass when cops break the law.

I’m afraid it’s not adding up very well

Where we go from here, no one can tell.

Even before corona there was a yawning gap

Between rich and poor – mobility had a cap.

With the miseries of new and abuses of old,

The match is lit and will soon drop in the fold.

As quoting a racist cop from hell.

Not to mention the content itself

Which is not pulled from the usual shelf.

For sure the protests have gone too far

But shooting Americans is not who we are.

From the lawsuits that could be wielded

If it allows nonsense to spread at will.
