So the vote was taken just last night

The outcome inevitable despite a fight.

The Republicans did as they should do

They had just enough time and chutzpa too.

But it is amazing that politicians behave

With word of honor in a deep grave.

Sure, he without sin may cast the first stone,

But isn’t this something to be done alone…?!

There you are working in the middle of the day

With a video feed to make sure you stay!

What triggered deep in that odd male mind

To put him in such an embarrassing bind?!

Once upon a time, not so long ago,

Making plans had a different kind of flow.

Before cell phones and texting filled the air

We’d set a time and a place and just meet there.

But then covid also started spreading fast,

And now planning ahead is a thing of the past.

Out in Utah two candidates are vying

To be the new governor, without denying

The good people of that western state

Thoughtful discussion in the political debate.

They even made an ad with each other

Encouraging peace between one another.

Who would have thought it was audacious

To pursue life goals while being gracious?

Here’s an inspiring guy running for Senate

Who has always adopted an important tenet:

“Anything gained is positive movement.”

Don’t expect all, just some improvement.

If you thought our politics we’re in the loo
It’s no surprise to hear “nanny nanny poo poo”…
Why would a senator think it’s smart
To be such a child at the start
Of an event to promote the free world’s leader?
God help us now, we really need Her.

Even by the crazy standards of today

This guy took power in an unusual way.

Just a few days ago he was sitting in jail

And now is released without paying bail.

Of course it does come at a certain price…

These nice people will have him in a vice.

Who could have known way back when

That these “scientists” weren’t just Zen

And were actually doing something productive!

Even though it seems so very destructive…

Well, the world sure does change on a dime

And the Christian right will let it pass this time.

This makes the assumption that he really had

Covid-19 and that it just wasn’t so bad…

But as faithful readers of the Rhymes do know

I think the virus was actually a no show.

What I didn’t foresee as Donnie’s intention

Was to also claim divine intervention!

It’s hardly new for a President to claim

That all is well with his physical frame

Even when the facts are quite dire

And the pundits speak of brimstone and fire.

But maintaining the image that all is well

Is justified right up to the toll of the bell.
