Back in the mid-90s I saw this show

It was one of those moments when you know

You’ve seen something new, totally unique

And if it didn’t ascend to a peak

Of success you’d think the world was wrong.

What they did was incredibly strong.

A big wide tent is the party tradition

But you keep people out when the condition

Is that you adhere to uniform thought

What comes from that will always be naught.

Don’t wag your fingers and tell us what’s right

Listen to people and help solve their plight.

It makes the mind wander to strange places

As you try to sort out what the case is

That would make it possible for a deer

To get all zipped up into safety gear…

This isn’t some random clothing mishap.

The deer must have been dressed by some odd chap!

It’s perhaps my favorite day of the year

And once every few years there’s more to cheer…

Today is my birthday, and it’s sooo sweet

Because in our house it’s a birthday treat

To not clean the kitchen, so it’s good living

To have your birthday on Thanksgiving!

Wait, hang on, are they trying to tell us

That some bankers would want to sell us

The notion that they follow all the rules

As they’re amassing the world’s crown jewels?

If they don’t that’s just shocking I say!

But it sure seems like any other day…

I’ve seen it myself (in my other work)

Too often I find they act like a jerk.

Entitled and thinking that their degree

Should give them respect and authority.

Grit and guts are in almost none of them.

I’ve seen it up close, since I’m one of them.

The criminal mind can be a mystery

And pretty much throughout our history

Both those that were daring and petty small crimes

Were conducted by crooks in difficult times.

I wonder how they thought this one would end…

Would they wear it themselves or sell to a friend?

This is of course not a revelation

It’s been featured in fables since Creation.

From the boy who cried wolf to Chicken Little

If you squawk too much folks will get brittle.

And in this age of full media blight

It’s now that much harder to see the light.

I’m not sure what is more disconcerting –

That MTG now seems to be flirting

With wanting to know some important facts

That could have sway on how Congress acts…

OR that she has what I never thought I’d see

A policy view with which I agree!

It’s worth reading this piece through to the end

There’s a lot in there that I would commend.

All of his points about how far we went

To the Far Left – making many feel spent –

May be as spot on and prophetic

As his view that Trump’s crew is pathetic.
