Nelson DeMille was a renaissance man
A soldier and writer he did more than most can.
I had the pleasure of meeting him once
And he surely struck me as no one’s dunce.
Thoughtful and modest with humor that’s wry
I’d love to be like him, or at least try.

Among the most concerning things I’ve read

Is this priceless gem that’s now in my head.

It’s not just a few, but quite a big crew

Whose views could really be only askew

Since their basic source for important news

Is Tik Tok! With its very thoughtful views…

Not even a political rookie

Would let words like those ever be said!

Since it would render their campaign dead.

Instead they all feed us sugary hope,

A dangerous and deadly fiscal dope.

It’s not as crazy as I would have thought

Since I imagined that I’d be distraught

By the desires of any one soul

Who believed that s/he had total control.

Most people’s concerns seemed pretty legit…

And then there’s the guy who just said, “I’d quit.”

It does seem bizarre that Trump hangs around

With a young woman who seems to have found

A skill stirring up anti-Indian strife –

Especially given JD’s own wife –

And believes 9/11 was a sham

Yet joined The Memorial… what a scam.

Since all politics have gone upside down

And party policies are turned around

It might not come as any big surprise

That neither party has plans to devise

A reduction in our national debt

And no one seems to be getting upset.

It’s truly a day I’ll never forget.

Crystal clear skies, no reason to fret.

New York was settling back into gear

Then suddenly was plunged deep into fear.

So many displayed such courage and strength

Helping each other at any length.

When my thoughts become filled by gangs and crime

I can’t say that I spend a lot of time

Thinking about all those criminal plots

That involve exams and filling the dots

On standardized tests…! How could we have known

How much their criminal business has grown?

I’ve never understood how it could be

That some people are swayed by ads on TV.

So it really gave me a big surprise

When I learned marketing had a new guise…

Influencers will tell you what to buy!

Does it change things if they’re made by AI?

It hardly seems this could be a surprise

That Wall Street firms get their girls and their guys,

Who speculate and trade to make a buck,

To start playing poker – it’s not dumb luck!

I love that this firm is in the open

About things it takes for cash to rope in.
