Achievable Goals

Resolutions are cool, though they don’t last.

But maybe because the goals are too vast.

They typically trend towards health and splendor…

But what about going on a bender?

Or resolving to do nothing at all?!

If you want ‘em to last, then that’s the call.

Take a Deep Breath

With excitement and a little sadness

We say bye to a year filled with madness.

What more could we each have done to help out?

What did we miss? There was plenty no doubt.

But perhaps what’s best as we look ahead

Is in fact to slow down a bit instead…

I Hope So

I know that we’ve covered this topic before

But it’s definitely one we can’t ignore.

Tipping culture has gone out of control

And we have to dig ourselves out of this hole.

Pay wages to workers that are good and fair

And get tipping out of the consumer’s hair.

What’s the Problem?

I get that it may not meet certain norms

But the type of art that this guy performs

Is protected by the Constitution

So what’s with all of this persecution?

It’s not like he’s leading a sordid life…

All of the films are with his wife!

It’s About Life

Perhaps it’s true this overstates the case

But it’s a notion not hard to embrace.

This is about a great poet’s last stance

As he fights for his life, with little chance.

Poetry is helping him as he dies

Make sense of his life before his demise.

Boxing Day

On the one hand it’s nice to have it all done

Since there’s stress at Christmas, as well as fun.

But it’s also sad, one more marker has passed…

Who knows the number before it’s our last?

But maybe the bright side of Boxing Day…

It can stand for a blockage taken away.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!

Baby Jesus has arrived and it’s great.

With carols and egg nog and proper feasts

And a touch of reverence from pious priests.

But for all, no matter whom you pray to

I hope you’re happy and peace be with you.

Festivus

For those not familiar with Festivus

It’s the holiday “for the rest of us!”

Born on Seinfeld it’s for any of you

Who don’t think of themselves as Christian or Jew.

Clever reference on the part of Rand Paul

Though my grievance with him stands pretty tall.

SCOTUS Punts

To me this is just a terrible choice

We really need the Supreme Court’s voice.

No matter the outcome in lower court

Both sides will appeal as a last resort.

Just do it now and save us frustration

And help to stabilize a torn nation.

Love Thy Neighbor

It’s a little vague, what this really means…

But it’s pretty good news for all Catholic queens.

It’s not a marriage, so no wedding vows

But for the first time the church now allows

Acceptance of couples who aren’t cisgen

A massive step forward Lord knows since when!
